LIFE EXPERIENCE
Throughout my life I’ve learned to adapt and step into responsibility as the need comes my way. At age 16, my niece and nephew, then ages 4 months old and 2 years old, came to live with my parents and I. Both of my parents worked full time and were often involved in church activities during the weeknights. As a result, I became the primary caretaker for the children. My responsibilities were that of any mom, everything from diaper changes to middle of the night feedings. I did all of this while graduating from high school on time. Since being home with the children prevented me from working a traditional full time job, I often babysat at night and on weekends, including being the primary babysitter for one family that had 5 children. Aside from babysitting, I also ran a few small businesses throughout my teenage and young adult years including “Traci’s Sensational Soaps” and a homemade jewelry business. I graduated high school and stayed home with the children until the youngest entered preschool, at which time I began working more traditional jobs.
